You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

OMG - thirtieth republic already Shock this thread is helping me through the madness so much!

Wisdom tooth still sore and feeling slightly sick this morning Sad going to have to get in touch with the dentist and hope he can get me in as an emergency after school. Had a similar thing with another wisdom tooth a few years back and it got badly infected. Very painful so hoping to catch it before it gets too bad.

Doing a 50/50 in person/at home lesson with Y11 today -hoping it goes well! Observing my NQT as well which I'm looking forward to. The class he chose posed it's challenges at the start of the year and he has worked really hard with them so I'm looking forward to giving him some formal positive feedback.

Morning!

Staff you wrote this on the last thread Lost all my frees on Monday due to Maths cover requirements - two of them out. English teacher still shielding and we have another going in for a procedure which has been postponed and has become critical.

No ones fault but it does add to workload hence why I am up late marking essays.

Just to say thank you and to all the teachers out their covering colleagues due to Covid. The guilt at having to stay home with an isolating child is huge and am very grateful to those supervising my classes (whilst you see my face on the IWB trying to teach as normal) Grin

Morning all.

Exhausted this week. Partly even my own fault as I am so depressed that I stay up really late reading/Internetting. In the winter, it makes me so miserable to just work and go to sleep. My own worst enemy - on top of the shitty situation.

@Danglingmod I'm the same. Exhausred by 9.30, but everyone goes to bed so I actually get to read/have control of the remote/have some silence... then suddenly it's midnight. Or 1am, and I'm on for 5 hours sleep.

I woke up angry.... Today is not going to go well for any kids who step out of line Grin

I am angry that there has been no proper investigation by journalists into what is happening in schools. In fact they are colluding with the misleading photos.

Is it bad to hope that the posters who keep saying Covid is mild for kids and most adults, and that education is more important than staff safety etc - is it bad to hope they get Covid?

Report
RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 17/11/2020 09:05

Even if they do get it, it will be mild. Even if it's not mild. If you see what I mean.

Example: Uncle WooWoo, leader of the free world.

Yes, because they are the sort who will send their kids into school even though they should be isolating, or won't get a test because "it's only a cough". They pose a greater risk to the rest of us.

Just seen the updated list of symptoms which Zoe app asks about, one is "feeling down" - seriously difficult to distinguish this from the effects of well, life atm for many, I'd say! (Which of course being sent for a test will do!)

One of our pupils is very seriously ill in hospital this morning. I don’t know if he’s tested positive yet but was a close contact outside of school a few days ago.
Bubble isn’t closed.
HT still organising outside visitors and lesson observations - doesn’t believe ‘the hype’...
I despair.

That is so stressful.

I do think there are some Headteachers with a lot to answer for in terms of not keeping staff and students safe.

We now have 1 yr7, 1 yr 11, and 2 yr 10s (both in my science class) positive. I've had emails about both year 10s being in my lessons in the past week - I replied to the latter saying I'd followed the rules but it did mean in the last week I've spent two hours with confirmed positives (more for the kids, who have been in multiple lessons with both of them), and given BoJo is isolating for 35 mins...

Plus lots waiting for tests. Seems to be a rapid increase for us over the last few days.

Nice work on the WELL RESPECTED SCIENTISTS’ title noble

I’m winning at window wars on the bus. Yes it’s a bit breezy, but it’s not my fault you left the house without your coat in the middle of November. Must have accidentally got my teacher ‘look’ out cos he pulled his mask up over his nose too. Result!
