Who is entitled it?
Can the school refuse to pay it to support staff?

I fit the criteria from what i know, but my school have said we dont do it. However my contract states if your 36.5 hours then your entitled to approx £1500 per annum pro rata. Im only 32.5 hours term time.
Im just confused.

I've only ever heard of teachers getting it

It was stopped certainly in my LA over 10 years ago; possibly nation wide at the time? There was a lot of bad feeling about it as obviously teachers in sen schools get it but not the TAs.

I’ve only ever heard of the SEN allowance for teachers, not TAs. Our SENCo doesn’t even get it!

I fit the criteria

Where have you found the criteria? What is it?

@Redlocks28 my contract states that if i work in a setting where i work with statemented children for the full day or even part day i should be getting an proportion of the allowance.

Good luck with that OP - I worked as a special needs teacher for 13 years and was SENCo for a further 6.

Never got the SEN allowance.
