I started my job yesterday and I came home in floods of tears. I don't want to go back...I have done my job elsewhere and was very successful. I felt unsupported, not knowing what I was doing due to poor communication and information being withheld relevant to my job, a line manager who couldn't give two hoots because they've recently had a pay cut and another who has micromanaged me all day. It's only been one day and I just cannot face going back. Does anyone have any advice on how I can resolve things?

I feel exactly the same way! I hate it. I miss my old job. No advice sorry but just wanted to let you know you are not alone.

I was very successful and had a good reputation in my old school as being a hard working teacher. This morning I got “told off” by a senior leader for not knowing something! It’s my bloody second day of teaching fo F sake!

So sorry you’re feeling like this. How was today? I don’t think that I’ve ever started a new job where in the first few weeks I didn’t think that I had made a huge mistake - things might improve. If they don’t and you are sure it’s not the job for you then look for something else - life is too short!

@Pringles63 Thank you it's really good to know I'm not alone. What is it with these idiots who tell people off Angry I would love to set up my own school. Hang in there idiots like them always trip up and fall flat on their faces!

@Goorwait things were a little bit better today I've ignored the person who really upset me which helped. I really hope things get better, I've only just recovered with my mental health and was feeling I was strong enough to get through things but had a real wobble...hopefully things will get better otherwise i'm out your absolutely right life is too short!

So pleased to hear things were a little better. I started my job before my present job in similar circumstances. My mental health had been poor for a while but I was turning the corner and needed a fresh start. My HOD was so mean to me at the end of the first week that I went home sobbing! It really knocked the confidence that I had been slowly building up. It turned out she was a very ‘tricky’ character and everyone found her difficult. I ended up staying there a year and a half and only left because I found a lovely school much closer to home. Hope all goes well today.
