Teachers - how will you travel to school?

No more parking permit.. my school has no parking space :/ so I will need to drive half way there , park at my sisters and take the bus for the other half. Great. Parking around my school is £6 an hour!

No parking space at all? Pondering car share arrangements if space is limited.

Lucky to have a staff car park at our place.

I’m East London too but luckily we have enoug spaces. Do any of the TAs life really local and have a space on their driveways? We had building work in our car park a few years ago and lots of staff offered for those of us who drive longer distances.

I will be driving my DH (also a teacher) in September to avoid him having to use public transport, adding at least 15 mins to my journey.

@Useruseruserusee ah lucky you!! No one actually lives around the school. Everyone travelling quiet far. I have tried looking for rented parking space but it's so expensive. Might as well do 50/50 car bus journey :/

I have walked to work for the last 18 years. Literally bought a house 20 minutes from work since I cant drive. Will be handy when my daughter joins the same school next year.

By train. I live 45 minutes by train or an hour by car away. Car share on days when late meetings make the train a problem. Car parking is dreadful at ours too - but if we arrive before 8, it's fine. Those screaming into the car park at ten to nine have more problems.

We have parking at school but it's currently closed due to roadworks. We now have to park about 10 minutes away and then walk to school. All of the children have to do the same because our campus is out in the sticks, most kids get dropped off by car and even our school bus cannot get any closer.
I take DS with me because he attends one of our nursery classes. It can take a lot longer than 10 minutes to walk with him...

Why have they taken away your parking permit?! Is it something to do with Covid? (not sure what, nothing makes sense that springs to mind!)

I'm easy walking distance so don't need transport.

I’m lucky & live very close to school so will walk or drive (when I need to drop dc at childminder first).

DS will be driving, as usual. Normally plenty of parking at the school but due to building work he has had to book a space and arrive before a certain time or it's released to someone else. He's usually in at the crack of dawn so shouldn't be an issue. Outer London.

Unfortunately 20 min bus then 5 min walk. I don't drive and don't want to live in the crap town my lovely school is based in.

I would discourage car sharing as, in the opening schools guidance, it says that if someone has symptoms then anyone in close contact has to self isolate. Close contact includes sharing a ‘small vehicle’. Staff absence needs to be avoided wherever possible.
