Any recommendations as to which union to join ahead of training year? Can you join a couple to see which you like the best?

I know that unions don't carry much sway these days, but I wouldn't want to work in a school without being in a union.

TIA

All of them. They're usually free to trainees. Then I'd recommend staying in the one best represented in your first school.

Definitely this!

Just make sure the ones you're not staying with definitely cancel your membership after the first year. I had one union who ignored my cancellation and was hounding me for back fees two years later 😂

Thank you, that's so useful. Know what I'm doing later!
