How many hours are considered full time each week?

Hello, I'm in the middle of a career change into education and I wasn't sure how to calculate take home pay, because I don't know what 'full time' is considered.

The jobs in question are TA roles at the moment, so I know they only pay for 38 weeks of the year (right?), but weekly I wasn't sure what the weekly hours to be considered full time are. In the industry I'm coming from it isn't even standardised, some places are 35, 37, 37.5, or 40 for calculating full time.

Many thanks for reading this smile

There is no standard. It all depends on your contract.

Speak to the school for clarification.

That's good to know, thanks! There are a number of schools I've applied to so it's good to know it's different at each.

I'm a TA and work 36.25 hours a week. I do 8:00 - 3:15 two days and 8:00 until 4:30 three days.
It will vary as I know lots of people who only do school hours so 9-3pm.

Within our Local Authority full time hours are 37.5. TAs are then paid their prorata hours for 39 weeks of the year (they are paid for the inset in my school) and statutory holiday - I think it works out as about 43 weeks altogether.
