You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to beat us with then please do so elsewhere and not in the staffroom.

Hello all! I was wondering whether to start a 10th thread but didn't want to step on Staff's toes!

I've spent the whole day writing reports, about half way through now. Got sucked into a few MN threads in the meantime before hiding them.

It's been pissing it down all day here, which gave me some grim amusement at the thought of our resident teacher-bashers having to teach 33 Year 10s in a marquee....

Getting busier by the day, not only the full lesson by lesson remote learning, marking each kids work at least 1x/ week, teams meetings for whole school, subject and year group, 20 million emails per day
Then added in teams for y12, Then 1:1s on teams for each kid in your tutor group , plus each kid you teach in y10 and y12, then add in a few real face to face lessons, transition videos for y6 And y11, and now with the realisation that showbie live chat isn’t cutting it so a different online system on live chat with each ks3 group every week.
Aaaaaargh

I'm tired. Was supposed to be sports day next week so want to plan something for my tutor group. Any ideas ? Bear in mind I'm 53 and not fit.

I'm getting busier and busier too. It's a bit of a pain. One of my phase teachers isn't doing very much at home at the moment though, so I'm going to palm some stuff off on him.

I've spent the afternoon doing my lessons up to Tuesday, because that means I can do reports tomorrow morning and all day Monday. I hate doing them, but hopefully now I've done the setting up and filling in of effort grades and stuff, I can just do the waffle. It's good to be in the waffle zone I find, and once I get going I just hammer them out.

SLT were surprised today that I've only written 2. The deadline isn't until 6th July - that's AGES. Deadlines are for a reason.

Anyone notice that the thread about have there been any outbreaks in schools, despite being wide open for bashing, has sunk a bit after I just posted the ONS data comparing teachers to carers in the first few responses. HA. Probably divs will be all over it later, but anyway.

Oh, thank God you're all here! I was struggling, reading that fucking 1600 thread.
I've never liked pigeons - flying rats, after all, but now I REALLY hate them.

I know we'll probably finish this thread before term ends, but I am truly counting down the days now.

Currently in report-writing hell so I have cheated on marking and just posted the solutions into Year 7's class notebooks. They are a top set so I know that most of them will check. Tempted to do the same for Year 9 and actually get to my bed before midnight. I'm teaching tomorrow morning, then doing an intervention at lunchtime, then in on rota in the afternoon. Think I will send dh out for a chippy tea tomorrow evening!

My local area has a spike and the mayor is flapping but doesn't seem to have the northern gumption to shut stuff down (he's a libdem...)

5 primary schools with outbreaks in Lincoln and I am wondering what they will do about the Leicester spike.

Anyone seen the latest phe stats?

24 outbreaks in schools, highest yet. Same number as hospitals this week.

Report
Piggywaspushed · 18/06/2020 21:18

I was looking for that :it's hard to google.

To be fair, they will be expecting outbreaks because schools are reopening and an outbreak is two people. It was always so obvious these low numbers in kids and teachers is because they were Rapunzels locked up in the tower.

Report
Beawillalwaysbetopdog · 18/06/2020 21:26

yep, not unexpected at all Piggy. Depressingly predictable. Which is why I'm astounded so many are pushing for opening with no SD - more and bigger outbreaks will occur.

How about throwing balled socks into a bucket?
Or how long can you balance on one leg?

How long can you hold your less dominant arm in the air whilst repeatedly clenching your fist? We do this in lessons (it does have an educational point) and the kids always accuse me of cheating when I beat them Smile

Interesting about school outbreaks - I needed that info earlier for the thread I seem to have shut down already with actual science, but couldn't find it. 24 - it's going up!! Only 9 last week?

That’s interesting reading on the school outbreaks and a worry that it’s rising although expected.
We are only opening to all the government expected year groups next week with Lancashire’s advice.
So that’s not even all schools open to more children yet.
