You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are not staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

Crumbs - the third republic did not last long comrades. Stand by on BoJo announcement and whether or not there is an exit roadmap.

Expect aibu and all school related threads to go into meltdown

Thank you!

I noticed that Janrick flung the word 'schools' into his interview this morning when trying to explain the new slogan.

...and marquee

I now have a vision of all available space being filled with portacabins and marquees. Schools will be great places for hide and seek. We will have kids (and staff) tripping over ropes, knocking out tent pegs for giggles .....

I still think we should get all the ‘huns’ in to help out but they can not have staff room access

It's like they don't know that if you have to explain a slogan, then it doesn't work!

I haven't put up a tent since Brownie days, but I'll give it ago. We teachers must 'step up' and 'do our bit', you know.

I have never felt less patriotic and more left wing than I do at the moment!

As someone pointed out alert is another wartime word co opted for Boris' sloganeering of the Blitz Spirit.

Report
FrippEnos · 10/05/2020 15:14

The thing is with "stay alert"

There will be no point in staying alert about covid if no measures are put in place in a classroom filled to the brim with pupils.

We will be to busy trying to teach, babysit, childcare, behaviour management getting it all wrong etc.etc. etc.

Sorry, I know that its been said over and over. but ffs.

I feel i should pop my head round the door and ask you not to mess up my stationary cupboard.
I was enjoying the tent thread (sorry) i just had visions of each tent having its own bank of portaloos and catering van and was prepared to fight for the Thai street food catering van to be by the office.

@Piggywaspushed MN is pushing me towards the left - nothing to do with politicians. I have gone from being a member of a union who was a bit ‘what do you mean strike I have photocopying and assessments to do’ to a rather more assertive card carrying member! I blame all the ‘huns’ and Katie Hopkins wannabes

fripp, I picture us all standing like meerkats being alert to all dangers.

A poster on another thread propounded the notion that they had wanted 'stay vigilant' but then realised the -ahem- less well educated might only know the word vigilante...

@Grasspigeons -Thai catering van 😂😂😂

If anyone touches my stationary boxes it will be the last thing they ever do!

I went to a painfully cool wedding with a gin minivan thing. Can I have one of those outside my tent?

I mean tents, really. We fundraise annually for poor souls in refugee camps being taught in tents.

That’s worrysome.

I am warming to the idea of refreshment vans - gin vans, Prosecco vans, specialists foods .... if the music dept get their act together we could have a Glastonbury summer term 😂

I'm trying to imagine my boy-heavy bottom set year 9 class cooperating with being taught in a tent.
I still have flashbacks to the time I thought it would be a nice idea to take a biology lesson to the field and do quadrats ..... Confused it was like herding cats...

Thanks for new thread.
Just seen this- not quite learning in wedding marquees as suggested by some of the wise laydees of MN but apparently more outdoor learning being considered in Scotland..?

I'm remembering the time I took Y1&2 outdoor learning forgot I had no TA. Cue utter crazy William Wallace style "freeeeedoooom" type madness just getting across the yard to the field. Turned straight back round and came back into class!

Checking in here after realizing it's all a bit crazy out there. Funny how the same posters crop up on the same type of threads saying the same things. Do any of them work in a school? Tents and buckets begone!

@WhyNotMe40 school toilets are grim at the best of times but portaloos , well it will be a real festival experience
