My boss is a witch.
My SLT are supporting her while our department fractures.
Student behaviour is escalating to scary levels. Think serious attacks.
I hate everything I do there.

I can’t be the only one not wanting to go back to my little hell hole. Please share - I can’t be alone!

Hey there,

Sorry to hear you're having such a tough time. I know this may seem like a scary, crazy thing to do but if you hate it - QUIT. You will always be able to find another school / nursery or even part time work till if you need to spend more time looking for the right job.

There's no point going through life being unhappy so take positive action to change your circumstances. Importantly - you are NOT alone even though it may feel like it. Your in what I call a "bubble of struggle" which means right now you probably feel like you're trapped and have very little choice, but if you can break out of the bubble you'll be able to look back and see your current situation in perspective which is simply "a bad patch".

Quit the job, find something that can make you happy. And even though you may have people relying on you for income etc, there's plenty of schools / other jobs out there that need help - you'll be able to find one!

Good luck, chin up - you can do it!

Your school sounds awful and I'm not surprised you're dreading going back Sad

Can you start looking for a new job? There are nice schools out there. I really like my current school and one of the big plus points is a supportive, sane, SLT and Head.

Honestly OP, life is too short to be miserable, look elsewhere!

I am desperately searching for another one. There are plenty of teaching jobs but I’m expensive so I need to match my tlr or better it. I just feel so miserable at the thought of going in Monday.

Hi again Tebolla, if you would be prepared to drop the TLR, you could apply for a general teaching post. I don't know what you teach but I teach Science and in the last few years, we have recruited members of staff who were previously TLR holders or even HoD. They were looking for a different role for a variety of reasons and it didn't put us off.

Of course, do keep applying for TLR/HoD as well if that's what you need/want.

Good luck- I hope something comes up soon for you.

If you are feeling bad have you spoke to the doctor. Being signed off might give you some breathing space ?

Sorry posted to soon. You could also speak to your union.

I don't work in a school but I too had a witch manager who was supported until she unexpectedly resigned. Our business unit is in chaos with serious emotional and reputational damage and SLT are only now taking notice. Get out while you can

I was in a similar position OP, and I quit! Recently started a new job in a new school and love it...but like you, I'm expensive! I took the pay cut and moved from UPS3 back to mainscale...that was a scary move as I am on my own, no partner to prop up any deficit and no savings! However, my mental health is so much better, I'm smiling every day and back to loving my job! I'm flat broke and have had to make massive changes to my lifestyle, being £400 a month 'short' but it's been worth it.

I hope you find a solution that works for you 🤞
