Need help from teachers in primary school. Please.

Hi, I'm currently in my 3rd year of degree and working on a project that requires input from teachers. Alls I need is a reply from you on this thread to tell me a 'tip or trick' in dealing with young children's mental well-being during SAT's periods. The replies will be put on to my presentation and shown in class, however all usernames would NOT be included. Thankyou for reading.

Set homework that aids their mental health in the run up to their sats. A mindfulness activity, walk outside, yoga for example.

As a parent:
Stop making it into a big deal.
Stop making it the focus of Y6
Make sure they know SATs are only one part of life, and friends, exercise, arts, sport etc etc are equally as valuable.

PS that talks about Y6, as we were abroad for the years both my kids were in Y2, so I have no idea what happened then.

We have a yoga teacher come in to do relaxation/ meditation etc with the children.

Don't talk about SATs on the first day of the year (or move up day!). If you do, downplay it massively.

Downplay SATs - they are not important. They are for the government to use as a stick to beat schools and therefore teachers with. Many Secondary schools do their own assessments and set children from them rather than SATs.

Plenty of fun stuff to offset the focus on maths and English.
