Year 1 - 3 mornings and 1 afternoon
Year 2 - 1.5 mornings and 1 afternoon

Year 1 - full time TA. I can’t imagine not having a TA! KS2 share TAs so each class has TA support in either the morning or afternoon.

Wow that's good. I have a TA for one hour a morning and she is often taken to other classes to support individual children! It makes the job very difficult.

Y1 - TA every morning and one afternoon. The afternoons when I don't have a TA are hard work though.

When I taught year 1 I had a TA in the mornings. She was often pulled to cover sickness elsewhere in the school, be the first aider on other years' trips or go on week long residentials etc. It wasn't easy.

Our school are full capacity three-form entry and simply not enough money in the budget to afford a TA for most classes. Some do have a pt TA but these are mostly for 1:1 SEN pupils.

Due to lack of funding, a lot of schools are not replacing TAs. Many classes I go into as supply only have a TA if they are 1:1, or have a TA who is split between several classes.

It does seem to vary enormously school to school. Our budget is very tight. However when the children are just out of reception it's a very difficult job constantly trying to raise standards and staying sane without TA support!!

How on earth do you cope with KS1 and no TA! I can barely cope with my lot WITH a TA!

Full time TA in all classes in our school. 2 TAs in the class with 2 high needs SEN children

Foundation Class - 2 TAs full time
Y1 & Y2 - 1 full time TA each
Y3-6 mixture of morning and afternoon sessions, probably about 1.5 days in total for each class, mainly doing interventions and SEND support.
2 TAs who both work 1:1 with children who have eHCp plans and move up the school with them.

We are in a deprived area and although budgets are v tight we prioritise support in EYFS and KS1 as we see the huge benefits it brings.

I’m a Y1 TA every morning and HLTA for PPA every afternoon.

Incidentally, when I HLTA in the afternoons, there are 2 classes where I have no TA support.

I know it was like that in a school where I previously taught. Doesn't seem right -teacher has a TA in the morning but the TA is fine in the afternoon on her own!
