Is a large secondary academy expecting me to visit?

A well paid, Business Management role.

My background is mostly primary and I've always advised others that you must visit to give yourself the best chance of getting an interview. I've worked for two heads that wouldn't consider interviewing if you didn't and another who was put out if you didn't but would shortlist if the appln was strong enough. I know I missed out on one role I did a very strong appln for because I didnt visit.

But I'm thinking in a secondary of 150 staff, the head (or someone else?) would be constantly showing people round.

The ad says contact the head's PA if you'd like to arrange a visit but it doesn't say visits are welcomed/encouraged like primaries often do.

If I'm to go it needs to be this week, as they're closed next week and we have HT the week after when I'm going away. Job closes before we're back. I'm thinking calling and being "difficult" about when I can go might not be good either...

Of course you should go. The size of the school makes no difference, in a secondary you'll probably get a tour from some kids anyway. That's the usual procedure!

You go round, often the existing business manager will show you round which is quite useful.
