Doing a Roald Dahl topic related to revenge stories and the rights and wrongs of seeking revenge.

Anyone got any good ideas?

Thank you.

If you're doing Dahl, the episode from Boy where they put a mouse in the sweet jar to creep out the nasty shop lady is a must, surely.

Danny the Champion of the World: poaching pheasants as revenge on the unpleasant landowner, Mr Victor Hazell.

Lamb to the slaughter--might be a bit grown up though.

The Twits have loads. My DS (yr 5) loves where the husband ADs a little bit to the end of his wife's walking stick every night, so she thinks she's shrinking! (Makes me giggle too!)

Matilda is full of revenge- on her father with the glue on his hat & the hair dye and Miss Trunchbull with the newt.

Story of Adam and Eve, God gets vengeance by turfing them out.

The magic finger, quite short and probably age level appropriate for majority of y4.

Fairy tales are full of moral messages including revenge

Definitely do this! This was literally the first thing I thought of too. I can remember reading this book in school and this particular chapter is just the best!

Re. the great mouse plot in Roald Dahl's Boy, a couple of chapters later is "Mrs Pratchett's revenge", when the boys get caned for the prank by the headmaster, described in vivid detail. Not only do all the boys have to watch and wait their turn, but the loathsome Mrs Pratchett is there as well, bouncing up and down in the chair with excitement, spurring the headmaster on. "Lay it into him! Let him have it! Teach him a lesson!" Restorative justice of the 1920s. We never find out it he ever went into that shop again!

The BFG: he gets revenge on the bullying Fleshlumpeater by making him have a "trogglehumper" (terrible nightmare).

Also in Roald Dahl's Boy, the chapter "Goat's tobacco". Dahl himself puts powdered goats' droppings in the pipe belonging to his sister's fiancé, instead of tobacco.
