Maternity pay?

Hi all, think I'm getting myself a bit confused here! I've been on maternity leave since April. For the last 4 months' pay I've had roughly the same amount, although never exactly the same. This month, however, I've just seen that the amount has dropped by £700. I didn't think this was the case at this stage of maternity leave? I had thought it was 9 months SMP and then see a drop for the last three months, is this correct? Just want to know if this is normal or not so I can contact work if not.

Were you receiving OMP too? If so it is probably that you are now just receiving SMP? It should break down the different amounts on your payslip?

It is right OP I was on Maternity the beginning of the year. (UK)

From the UK government website
90% of your average weekly earnings (before tax) for the first 6 weeks
£148.68 or 90% of your average weekly earnings (whichever is lower) for the next 33 weeks

You need to look at what your school offers - in the brave new world of academies they don’t have to follow the burgundy book!
If they do you get: 4 weeks full pay, 6 weeks 90%, 12 weeks 50% and the rest at SMP.

So yes, at 4 months in (working on the fact that your first month will have been some salary / some maternity pay) I’d expect you to drop to half pay.

Thanks guys - I think I read it wrong before - it says SMP or 90% pay, whatever one is lower, which I had missed! Time to start budgeting!
