A Level Revision lesson ideas

Any ideas that are not too time intensive to prepare? We don't have exam leave and have been instructed that our lessons must remain structured and purposeful. I reckon I've got 6 doubles to fill before the kids vote with their feet....

I have only taught up to GCSE and stopped teaching last year but here goes

  • giant sheets of sugar paper with topics in the middle and board pens. Students go round adding info to the sheets. They can photograph them at the end.
  • revision races, in teams, they are all given the same exam question. Answer sheet at the other side of the room. Students take it in turns to hold the baton (pen) and plan out answer if the sheet. When they in are in a group they can discuss as much as they want but only one person can be at the paper at a time and they can’t talk to the group while at the paper.
  • good old answer questions and peer assess.
  • quick fire quiz. Make the students write the questions.

What’s the subject? Is the exam all essays?

Biology. I like the sugar paper idea.

They can make revision kahoots or quizzizz for each other.
“Walking talking” past papers - worked examples that you do together, then mark together with mark scheme.

In groups, give each group a topic that needs revising. They have to prepare a lesson on it that they would hypothetically deliver to the L6. This includes making worksheets/powerpoints/handouts, etc, as well as writing the lesson plan and preparing the content.
