Is dark red hair unprofessional?

Hi all
I work in a very laid back state comp and am now looking to move schools. I currently have dark red hair. It’s probably closest to this: images.app.goo.gl/SWEFJhGfNF8Qdx7x8 current school couldn’t care less.
I’m looking to move into a slightly niche area (more leadership than teaching, but not SLT) and have applied to a couple of private schools as well as some SEN schools. Is this the kind of thing that would stop your schools from hiring someone? Would you dye it brown?
I’m still at my NQT school and remember the advice of not looking too alternative given to me by uni many moons ago!
TIA (hope you’re all enjoying the hols)

I work with people with similar hair and I don't think it's ever been a problem to be honest. Depending on the school, the dress code may be more formal.

Thank you superpug - would you ask if it would be a problem in an interview? (Like ‘is my hair against the dress code? I don’t have an issue in dyeing it’) or does that sound a little pathetic?
I’m worried I’ve been in my hippy school bubble for so long I’ve missed what’s happened elsewhere,m!

I work in a fairly up tight school wrt dress code and my hair is a very henna’ed red. It’s been fine.

I wouldn't say that was unprofessional as it's not letter box red.

Go for a visit before the interview to suss out the vibe of the school?

I used to have hair like this: Flame Hair

I now have hair like this: Dark Purple

I interviewed here with the flame hair. We have teachers with blue hair, teachers with lavender hair and quire a few redheads. The hair colour you posted looks quite tame for us! If you're a bit worried, put your hair up in a twist or bun, and dress very professionally. Go in with a lot of confidence, and don't even mention your hair.

It's fine. It's not that alternative OP. Dye it brown if you want but not for that reason. In interviews it's good to stand out. You will be remembered.
If they want you to the it before you start work they will tell you. If you ask it sounds a bit attention seeking.

I worked at posh all-girls' schools with that colour hair. It was a non-issue.

I think it would be fine to be honest and I wouldn’t worry about asking. Good luck for the interview. ☺️
