Limping to Easter!

PumpkinPie2016 · 28/03/2019 19:33

I'm so tired and literally feel like I am limping to Easter holidays! It doesn't feel like there should still be a week left for some reason!

Leading quite a big whole school event next week so I need to find some energy from somewhere!

I am only doing one day of revision this holiday though so plenty of time for a rest and to catch up on general life admin.

I hope it goes quick!

Still two weeks here and I feel as if I've been pretty much constantly ill since Christmas. I really need a holiday!

Yes I was definitely feeling this and then we had ofsted yesterday just to properly finish us all off!

This term has felt so long despite only being a 6 weeker.

We’ve had three parents evenings this term and I think that’s why it has felt so tough. It should be illegal to have parents evenings in consecutive weeks.

I was just as silly in my Year 10 lesson today as they were... Full day plus duty tomorrow. Joy! Gin

I have 2 weeks to go AND we only had a 2 day half term.

What sort of place has a two day half term? That’s not ok.

A two day half term???

Re: 2 day half term - I'm overseas - British curriculum but our terms can be brutal. We didn't have a full week in the Autumn either so a 17 week and a 14 week term without breaks in the middle is taking its toll now on the teachers and children. On the other hand I have an eight week summer break so there is a big payback then - though we have all said we'd prefer half terms to a long summer.

Andon hope it went well - rubbish though!

noble we have also had 3 parents evenings - I'd forgotton about that!

A 2 day half term is just outrageous!

Y11 have totally drained me today but Y7 last lesson were at least a bit calmer than they normally are on a Fri afternoon! Maybe they are exhausted too!

We always have the first two weeks in April off in my LA (Scotland). Go back for four days and have a long weekend over Easter.

I couldn’t do another two weeks and I don’t think the kids could either. Loads of tears and fights today- very glad to be done!

I have one more parents evening and one more week. Then 3 weeks till SATS. I will spend a lot of Easter sorting writing portfolios but at least i'll be at home. I am a walking SATS zombie right now. I dream data. I am so tired that i have dreams when i dream I am sleeping!

What scares me is our stupidly short next half term followed by a massive 8 weeker! Nooooo!

I have various recurring and very disturbing nightmares. I can’t give the exact details as I have already delighted the whole staff room with a terrifying glimpse into my psyche, but my dreams might involve similar scenarios to the most notorious Year 11 girl dating my son and moving in with us Shock

3 days for us, we finish on Wednesday for 3 weeks (private). Can. not. Wait.

We finished yesterday and I genuinely don't think I could have lasted another week. I don't remember feeling this exhausted. This term has been hell. Good luck to all of you with one or two weeks left, you have my complete sympathy.

1 week to get through here too-I'm also struggling due to a very intense few weeks (inspection, 2x parents evening, report writing, university course plus awful cold...) I'm exhausted and have no patience! 2 and a bit weeks off for Easter here and I can't wait! On the other hand, no more holiday until we break up for the year in July...

I really do think that when a half term is 6 weeks we still do exactly the same amount of extra stuff such as parents evenings, report writing, exam setting and marking etc but squeeze it into the 6 weeks on top of the regular teaching. The short weeks when we go back before external exams are putting the pressure on now as well, getting pupils prepared for their Easter revision is fun 🙄
