Applying for jobs on short term contract?

Normally teaching staff tell bosses if they're applying for new roles.

I'm on a fixed term contract. So on the basis of this, I'm assuming the school will not need telling I'm looking for roles for after this?

It's hypothetical at the moment as not seen anything locally, but wondered what was the done thing?!

Why not have the conversation? You will need time off for interviews and a reference. You might as well be as courteous as you can.
