Unusual question for head-teachers, or those who know about HTs

How much of your working time is spent sitting?

Odd question, I know. This is for a (genuine research) study. I suspect at least 30% of HT worktime is not sitting down, but what do you reckon? Thanks for any answers.

My HT has a standing desk. She sits down at meetings. And probably for lunch if she ever eats it.

I've just left headship. In my last job, I probably spent 60% of my time sitting down at my desk.

DD volunteered in the school office, says her secondary school HT was never in his office. Plus he taught a GCSE subject, I assume on his feet for that time, not to mention all the schmoozing & empire building opportunities. 60% sitting is about what I thought, too.

What’s your estimate for teachers then? I have days when the only time I sit is the car journey to and from school.

I'm a HT. I teach for 2.5 days.
For the other 2.5 days I am probably sat down for about 30% of the time if I am based in school, more if I am at meetings.

super helpful! Thanks.
I suppose we were going to put regular teachers in the high physical activity category (sitting down less than 40% of their work time). & HTs in the medium category (40-69% sitting down). Does that sound wrong?

I’m a senior leader. On classroom teaching days my steps are around 12k with 15k on a PE day. On my leadership days my steps are more like 9k. I’m in primary.

Am an HT. 45-60 sitting down would reflect a 'normal' week..

I'm a head, today I sat for 1 hour 45 mins between 8:00 and 5:00pm, then I sat for two hours whilst working on my data this evening. The rest of today has been walking...lots of walking and standing. I would say I sit for about 40% of the time on a normal day.
