Are you leaving teaching in December? If it has got so bad that you have physical symptoms, I would go to see your GP and consider being signed off for stress.

Why so many? On you on some sort of competency? Is the school failing?

School is RI. But this seems too.much even for R.I

Contact your union about all the drop ins. That is unacceptable. It was like that at my place as we were RI. Didn’t make us any better.

Not leaving altogether but going on supply. Feel gutted it has got to this after nearly 2 decades of teaching. This school has finished it for me

Oh Fiffle! That is horrendous. I'm so sorry you are going through this. Been there, done that, got the anti-depressants.

There is a world out there and most schools are not like this. Do supply and you will get out there and see that. I did this a few years ago after a hellish experience in a school and rediscovered my love of teaching. You get to try out schools and find one that is a good fit. It is brilliant for your confidence too, because if you are good you will be in high demand.

Remember that this is time-limited and nothing they say or do to you can hurt you or your career.

I second going to the union. You have nothing to lose as you are leaving anyway. This kind of environment is toxic and is no good for your or the children.

Hang on in there. The world will look a very different place soon.

And it's not you, it's them.

Thank you brainache78.
I've just left a lovely school too (due to working in different counties to my child) and I'm gutted. This move won't look great on CV but at the moment, I need to watch my health. I didn't sleep all Friday night / sat night and felt anxious all weekend. It's ridiculous really and I need to man up. That being said, it's a bad environment to work in.
I'm not a union person but I came here for advice and will take it.
Thanks everyone x

This is exactly what unions are there for. You won’t be the only one who’ll be glad they got involved.

If you need time out, see your GP.

Go and see your GP, get signed off - you're showing signs of work placerelated stress. Have you brought this up with HT or SLT? Put it in writing and invoke duty of care. Contact your union too.
There's lots of advice on various TES threads from people (sadly too many), in your position.
