Too darn hot

and I really can't motivate myself to spend another day sweltering in a classroom with over heated students and teachers. No end in sight.

I was so hot on Friday I nearly played sleeping lions and/ or considered just bursting into tears. Anyone even vaguely naughty pushes me to the brink. The only thankfulness I have is that I am not a man consigned to hot classrooms in trousers , shirt and tie.

Sob.

I decided to start a 'it's too hot' thread since everyone else seems to be tolerating it awaits someone telling me to get a grip as I will have six weeks holiday soon

I know it won't help - but we played sleeping lions at the end of Beavers this week for much the same reason!

A school local to me has classrooms where you can't open the windows. Imagine!

Oh I am totally with you, piggy. My classroom is sweltering, I actually felt ill on Friday evening from having been so hot all day. Getting the kids to do anything is just a Herculean effort.

And I am fed up of the ‘no, there is no legal maximum temperature at which you get to be sent home’ conversation. Do they think that if there was, I’d still be there?! I’d be first out of the door.

I feel your pain. I have no patience left nd we still have two and a half weeks to go! We watched a movie for the last hour on Friday and the kids (and me) just totally zoned out and sat in silence the whole hour. We’ve all had enough! And apparently after a couple of cooler days this week it’s going to get hotter!!!

Certain bits of our school are unbearable, but better since we had anti glare film on the Windows. When I first started we would re room them from June on. I've discovered the storeroom next to my office has air con -many people have found they need to see me urgently.

I hear you it's unbearable but I'm a nurse and it has been 28/29 degrees in the bay's, I literally have no energy I know what you mean about bursting into tears. I feel like I am melting but the work does not stop Shock.

Taking GCSE classes on field trips this week.

That'll be fun, dragging reluctant 15 year olds up hills in this heat.

Needless to say there'll be at least one without sunscreen and enough water, and more then one in jeans cos they're too 'cool' for weather appropriate attire.

Think of me, driving the minibus full of sweaty, grumpy, overheating teens...

I have stopped teaching Food Tech practicals. The kitchen is unbearable even without any cookers switched on. At last they have agreed to install AC. Meanwhile I will be making ice cream and doing blind food tasting in any other free room I can find. The workshops thankfully have double doors that open to the outside. One IT room has AC, it doesn't work in the other, guess which one I am timetabled in and which one I do my marking in.

Urgh I'm with you. My classroom has a digital thermometer and it got up to 31 degrees in there on Friday, we have no fan and our windows open a maximum of 2 inches so no breeze either Sad, it was horrendous and actually cooler outside - we had a very long storytime in the end (inside though as all the eyfs had nabbed our limited shady spots outside). Roll on summer holidays!

I'm actually considering making a parental complaint about the temperature in one of my kids' classrooms (cos the head ain't listening to the staff over it) - it got to well over 30 degrees in there on Friday (was 29 degrees and rising when I was in there mid-morning... kid asked me to help them look at the thermometer which is why I clocked it - that'll be the weather topic backfiring there!)

I am quite active when teaching and I can feel the sweat running down my back and legs.
I think we might have to watch some films next week.
The only up side is that even my naughtiest teens are just too hot to rebel. Blush

Hospitals are unbearable we are all sweating from places we didn't know could sweat... and it's happened at the very time they discovered the dyson fans were not to be allowed in the hospital setting.
Absolutely draining and exhausting especially at 26 weeks pregnant 😢

Why specifically Dyson fans??
