If so, do you follow any sort of SoW? Or can you recommend a good place/ book for ideas and resources?
TIA

I don't teach reception but do teach MFL at KS2.

There's a resource called Camenbear by Head Start languages which I've not used but heard good things about.

La Jolie Ronde also do some resources for EYFS that include songs, stories and finger rhymes. There is also a dvd called Jeux de Doigts also by Jolie Ronde which is good for little ones.

To clarify- the DVD shows finger rhymes for teachers to learn and then use with children. They don't watch the DVD. I use some of them in year 3.

Every school in Scotland should be. There is a curricular programme called 1+2. One native language plus two more by the end of P7 with an option of a third at secondary school.

Thank you. I will have a look. It'll be Spanish I think. I used to work for la jolie ronde, many many moons ago, I'd forgotten! Could translate some of those ideas!

Sorry - I always assume French as that's my language! I think La Jolie Ronde do Spanish now as well actually. Might be worth investigating.

Thanks. French is my main too, and all my primary is upper and French! I will investigate la jolie ronde ( or even see what I can adapt!)

Have you looked at Lightbulb Languages? There is a small scheme of ideas for KS1 that you could perhaps use in reception. And are you a member of the Languages in Primary Schools Facebook page? There may be lots of support there.

I teach BSL in reception. They love it and hopefully it’s good preparation for when the government approves a GCSE in it. It helps them communicate with our deaf pupils.

Not at all what you asked but something to consider?

Thank you .I'm not a member of that Facebook page, I'll have a look. I've just recently got onto lightbulb langs too.

BSL is great, they teach it at school, but are trying to to introduce a second MFL at primary.
