Experiences of primary teaching in Scotland

I'd be really grateful if anyone could share their experiences of teaching at primary level in Scotland.

Is the workload manageable? Do you have time during the working day to plan? If you work part-time, how do you find it?

I'm considering doing the PGDE, as I love working in education but work in my field is drying up (libraries). I considered secondary but job opportunities are more limited.

There are constantly primary teaching vacancies in my area, but I'm not sure if that's because of high turnover or what... It would be great to get some real insight! Thanks.

Hi, old post I know but if you're still on Mumsnet, what did you end up doing? Interested as I'm presently in the same boat debating the PGDE!
