Exam marking and mat leave

Hi,
I may be mad to consider this with 3 small children, but I've just been offered exam marking with AQA for Summer 18.
I will be on mat leave.
Can anyone help me with sone logistics please?
Will it be hard to work out earnings/ tax? Is it worth doing whilst on mat leave, or does it mess up tax allowances etc?
Many thanks

How is the work paid? Is it employed or self employed? Regardless, I think that it would count as returning to work and therefore you would not be eligible for maternity pay once you start the work. I would post this up in employment issues for specific employment advice if I were you.

I think that they can take deductions from smp or there is some way in which you will lose out financially ie not earn as much as you should. Sorry what I’ve written doesn’t make too much sense but when I did it I knew that it was better off it in fell after I’d been on mat for 9 months.

And no you’re not mad. I’m doing it while working full time and with two young kids, and doing 3 lots this summer.

Good luck
