I'm so impatient waiting to hear if I've got an interview. At home today trying to keep busy! Hope the wait isn't too long.

Glad it's not just me! Good luck. Have you applied for primary or secondary?

Just getting a few applications together myself. Need a job come September. It's such a wild West looking for a job in a new location x

@rainbowfudgee

Secondary! Putting all my eggs into my basket with this one at the moment so the pressure is on...

How about you?

Early years, so I'm nervous as I've only done ppa cover in year R before. It's 4 days a week which I'd love. Interviews are this week so they can't keep me waiting too long!
I need to go to bed soon to make tomorrow come faster.
Let me know what happens Smile

Nothing yet :(

I know it's still early days but can't help feeling negative.

How about you?

I'm obsessing and in the worst mood ever. Really need to get out of my current job but very pessimistic. Part time jobs are non existent round here, I've been looking for 10 years FFS!
Am finding this process a head fuck tbh.

I hear you. I have been going through so many thoughts and emotions today. At some points I feel so confident and think that the school would have no choice to offer me an interview based on my amazing application, then it swings to completely low moments where I feel stupid for even applying. I haven't been able to focus much all day, despite having to teach!

I am currently overseas, and looking to get back home with this job, so I can't even contemplate not getting it at the moment.

I wish I could offer you concrete advice, but you are definitely not alone in this, so maybe take some consolidation in this!

I really hope it works out for you both.

The interview is on Thursday so they would have emailed by now if they wanted me, wouldn't they?

Raargh.

I'm sorry :( You had a pretty quick turn around so maybe they might just be a bit late to inform people, or hopefully more opportunities will come up?

I am still waiting...
I caved and emailed them. They said that shortlisting hasn't happened yet, but they hoped it would be today and that they'd be in touch. It's now the end of the school day so I guess I have another restless night in front of me!

Oh no you caved! Any news?

I have applied for 30+ jobs in the last maybe 8 years. Been shortlisted twice!

When I do request feedback, they usually say I lack experience in other schools Which is kind of ironic, as I can't seem to leave the one I am in!

I have applied for a brilliant job. deadline was Monday so I am guessing I have failed once more.

Am getting a bit old now and may have to resign myself to being stuck in the same rut forever. Frustrating. I do have a second interview for a non teaching job next week though. It's rather odd that school, with all their retention issues, don't seem to want me! If anyone else on this thread is applying for SLT posts ( egAH) that's where all the applicants are : obviously all better than me Sad . I have regularly been told there have been 50+ applying for jobs I apply for. Conversely, when I was involved in shortlisting for a headship, we had 5 applicants.

I think I now have imposter syndrome...

Good Luck to everyone else on this thread.

The deadline for mine is 26th. Seems ages.

I've heard nothing today. I'm guessing that means I'm unsuccessful. When I got into contact with them yesterday, they said they'd be in touch, but I know how busy schools can be, and you'd only get into contact if an application was successful.

Feeling so down about the whole situation.

Best of luck to others

Hooray!

When is your interview?

Report
rainbowfudgee · 22/02/2018 21:14

I didn't get an interview. So am trying to be pragmatic and actually, it would have been a lot of work when my 4 year old is just starting soon and childcare would be more difficult. My working week is finished and it's been fab this week so I think I had a case of 'grass is always greener'. I'll keep looking but am ok for now.

Well done theblueflowers- let us know how you get on!

Sorry rainbow have you applied for others?

Interview is Wednesday.

Today I found out that I'm only being interviewed by the HOD. I'm overseas so this will be a Skype interview.

Find it a little bit odd that I am not getting interviews with other members of SLT...
I know someone who works there and the school know this, so can't help thinking that this might just be them not actually being serious with my application and just doing this because they feel they have to?

I know I'm already at a disadvantage being overseas, but it seems a bit odd that I won't be getting anywhere near the same treatment if I was at the interview in person.

Gah! Another few days of worry!

Good luck theblueflowers !

There aren't any part time jobs in my area at the moment. I currently teach 2 days a week ppa cover. Would like 3-4 days from September as youngest is starting school.

I'd love to apply for some of the full time jobs I'm seeing but we don't have family locally, DH has a high powered job involving frequent international travel and I would like at least one day a week at home alone to catch up with work and laundry etc.

Are part time jobs scarce everywhere? I started off full time where I am so have never looked for PT jobs before.

Good luck to you all. I have every sympathy, applying for a job is such a roller coaster of emotions. Browsing the TES, writing the applications, waiting to hear back. All so nerve racking. I am in a bit of a pickle as I took redundancy (for long and complex reasons) and now need to pick up a post for September or we are doomed. I sent off a few last term and got no's and then this term sent off 4 and have been called for 4 interviews. I am delighted but unfortunately they are all on the same 2-3 days and 2 are overnight - all next week! So after months of waiting around I am now having to choose between them. Anyway, Good Luck to you all and never give up!

Best of luck to you, @mumofblueeyes ! You must have really nailed the application letter in the second round, a great position to be in!

I'm trying hard not to think too much about tomorrow.. but at the same time, actually prepare some decent answers. Got a rejection letter today from an application I sent off last week so that's not helping the confidence!
