Recommendation for TA course

I am a childminder but I would like to retrain and become a Teacher Assistant. Because of my work commitment I would like an online course with some hours of placement. Would anyone be able to recommend a good online course equivalent to NVQ level 2 or 3 or CACHE level 3? There are so many companies offering the awards or certificates and I don't know which one to choose... Thanks!

I have just completed the CACHE Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, and also the extra units to get my Level 3 Diploma in Secialist Spport in Schools.

I already work part time as a TA and did this through De Montfort College which I can highly recommend. It was an on line course. I had to do a minimum of 50 hours in school, and get Witness Testimony Forms signed off by my class teacher.

Go for it! It is a lot of work but I enjoyed it. You get a year to complete it but I cracked on and finished much sooner. Cost was £400 for first course and £250 to add the diploma. The tutor support both via email and telephone was great.

Good luck x

Certificates means nothing! I'll make you one and charge you £400 grin

You need an accredited coarse

lol an natuonal database for accredited qualifications and stick to those - via a reputable online collage

The one I did with De Montfort is OFSTED and OFQUAL Regulated and fully accredited by CACHE. It covered everything from safeguarding, schools as organisations to assessment for learning and promoting positive relationships and behaviour.

But yes make sure you check it out.

Your local colleges will do TA courses.

I know my local college do it but I work as a childminder so I can't go to classes. I only have one day off a week (during which I will do the placement) so the rest has to be distance learning.
