Hi,
I am the link governor for eyfs in a small village primary school. It is a high level of fsm.

I have a meeting with the reception teacher.

What should I be asking and looking at?

I haven't had much guidance. I am usally on the finance committee.

Thank you

If there is a high number of fsm in the school and there is a nursery you need to be looking and asking how the eyfs pupil premium money is being spent and used perhaps. Schools are made accountable for this money.

You could ask about the baseline data for the cohort- are there any areas of learning where the children came in below national expectations (or above) and how does the teacher plan to target and develop these children.

Did the children come into school from different pre schools/ nurseries, or are there any without pre school provision, and how did the teacher ensure smooth transitions for everyone.

The role of governor visit is of observer, not inspector. Do you have any experience governor colleagues you could ask?
