If you've left in recent years what job do you now have?

That's it really, back in the day you could stop teaching and there would be all sorts of other jobs in education, but they seem to have mostly vanished due to cutbacks. So what jobs do ex-teachers do? I think this will have to be my last year, I love teaching, I love working with children, I just can't take much more of the crap that goes with it.

This is my last year teaching after 16 years and I already private tutor in my spare time. I'm already fully booked for September 2018 and will make about £100 less a month than my current 0.6 teaching contract for around 13 hours a week (plus prep) tutoring. I will have to work evenings, weekends and through the holidays but it's so much more rewarding and less stressful than class teaching.
I may pick up some bookkeeping or proofreading freelance work too but not sure yet.

I quit last year. Did some freelance publishing, tutoring and writing work for a few months and then got a job as a scientist. I had a similar career before teaching, for a short while. I also have the right sort of degrees in the right subjects. Now, I'm paid for what I do (i.e. overtime), I'm not allowed to take work home and I have evenings and weekends again. I'm also not treated like shit.

Decent paying administration job working for children's and family services. The relief is immeasurable. Left teaching in january. Wages arent as good but i have no outgoing costs related to the job so money seems to go a lot further! Lots more directions to go in too. Have never regretted it.

I’m hoping to finish July 2019. 1.5 years to go. I’m counting down already. I have no plans yet but just the knowledge that there is an end to this makes it feel ok!
