Unfair Workload?

Hi All,

I have recently felt like I am the dogs body and any and all work is thrown at me because I get my head down and get on with it. I also knew that a busy period is approaching so worked hard to get my workload down so I am prepared for this. I raised this in my last 121 and advised my boss at the time I was concerned my current low workload would be seen as an opportunity to throw more work at me on top of the expected usual incoming workload.

I work in a caseload environment. 2 of my co-workers have now gone off to work on a project for a few months. I was asked to take some of their cases. I offered to take one but ended up having to take 4 out of 5 cases (FYi there are 3 other people who can take cases). There was a 6th case that my manager wanted me to take. I responded saying that I am really busy now with all of the additional work so please find somebody else to take the case. Instead of acknowledging I had already taken 4/5 cases that needed to be handed out he is pushing back and saying other people are busy to & wants me to take it.

We receive a weekly email which contains stats. It turns out that I have already been assigned the highest amount of cases this month out of anybody else in any of our other offices globally & I have closed the most cases in my immediate department, so there is factual evidence that shows I am being given a higher amount of work over other people.

I have asked for a meeting tomorrow morning with my manager to discuss this. Has anybody got any tips on how I should approach this? I want to make it known that I am seriously unhappy at lack of sharing the workload fairly and that it is ok for other people to say they are to busy but not for me. On the other hand I do not want this to go against me when I go for promotion next year.

Thank you,

Are you a teacher, as you’ve posted this under ‘the staff room‘ section?

Maybe you just work faster or have more straightforward cases, which is why your stats are better. You'll need more details before you can say you do more wothan everyone else, which is what you strongly imply. Numbers aren't the whole story.
Maybe everyone else has been where you are and realised its not best practice to race through cases just to close them.

You night be better posting this in another board? A non-teacher would probably be better placed to advise you.
