Can anyone recommend any good biology/chemistry/physics textbooks? It is a long time ago since I studied at GCSE and A-level so I would like to do some reading up on each subject (specialising in biology).

The Pearson ones are pretty good.

Try the publisher websites - you'll usually get a code for a discount and they'll be cheaper than Amazon.

Make sure they're current spec books, they've all just changed over.

If the book is exam board approved it will be fine - I have a copy of all of them.

AQA / OCR / Edexcel are the main Science boards.

Gcse chemistry recommended by various people when I was training is by Grimes - can't remember which publisher but bright orange cover. Am nqt and use the school textbooks, but I always check grimes to see if there's a clearer way to explain or present stuff.

Find out what exam board and syllabus the school you are going to apply to teaches.

Search for it on Google and there should be a list of recommended textbooks on the website for the specific syllabus.
