Having seen loads of teachers around on various threads I thought it would be nice to find out who's who and what you do.

I'm a secondary maths teacher in a comp, been teaching for 12 years, part time for about 8. No TLRs which gives me plenty of time to post ranty threads about the state of education.

I hate Gove and like to picture him in his wellies inspecting pig farms, which is what I like to think his current job is all about.

Here miss!

Head of English in a state comp, though I clearly know less about English data than the noble one.

Hi noble!

Secondary teacher here since 2003, teaching the current incarnation that is Computer Science (with Computing in KS3) and 'supposedly' in charge of it (but have to bow down to SLT far too much) but always prefer to be left alone to see an 'initiative through'

Secondary English, currently in an independent school, teaching for over twenty years. Happy to be able to work relatively untouched by the Great Ideas of various education secretaries.

Hello! Primary here. In my twelfth year (I think!?). Part time jobshare. Teaching KS1 this year though much more at home with the slightly older ones. Despairing at the demands of the curriculum. Hate Gove and Greening. Have a TLR and meetings two of my three work days, plus a club the other so never seem to actually get anything DONE!

MFL part - timer, once HOD before children, teaching since 93, on MN since 2004.
Have had all sorts of ups and downs, lived for the job at one point, been disillusioned with it all many many times, seen it all go round and come back again but with new names. Plus ça change and all that.
I think I'm a better teacher now I have my own children.
(Doesn't everyone hate Gove?)

I teach ESL in a private international school in Asia, KS3 only this year, but have taught GCSE English as a Second Language before.
In a previous life I taught MFL in two state comps.
We're about as far from Gove as possible but we all hated him!

Y6 teacher for more years than I choose to count, maths lead and just resigned as Senco as it was all getting a bit much! TLR for maths and Sen although obviously about to lose the sen one (totally worth it!!!).

Yes Goves a dick.

Primary here. Mixed KS1 and KS2 (in the same class) makes for challenging planning and some interesting lessons.

Secondary Science here, specifically Physics. Teaching since 1998, state comp but now PRU is which has restored my teaching mojo - can’t imagine going back to mainstream now! Various TLRs in the past, but work/life balance has always been more important so just a foot soldier now!

Whilst Gove was obviously the worst, I had no time for Nicky Morgan and Justine Greening is out of the same mould - but I’m still furious that Tristram Hunt made no impact on the sitting target of Tory education policy. I keep hoping things might change.....

Secondary English in Wales for 17 years. Also Head of two year groups. For the first time I have chucked a child out of my class today and don't want him back. I have never done that before. Too many C/D borderline kids in there to have some pratt ruin it for them.
Inhale and exhale!

Secondary RE in a non-faith comp. Done my time as head of RE and head of Humanities but now part time with no TLR's to worry about!

Supply teacher for primary aged children heree and have been so for my whole career (long- and short-term cover). I enjoy it but the work is thin on the ground at the moment. Thinking of after school tutoring but not sure it'd fit in with my family life.

MFL here, miss. Started in comps 20 odd years ago, then did 10 lovely years in a private girls' day school, went part time when I had first dc 12 years ago, had a couple of years off altogether when dc2 was tiny. Since then have only done bits and bobs - part time maternity covers, cover supervisor work, some adult teaching (which I love) and a bit of primary MFL (also fun but couldn't teach primary full time!).

Dh is a deputy head. I hope never to go back to FT teaching in a state secondary because it's brutal these days. I spend a lot of time bemoaning the state of the education system and hoping it doesn't kill dh.

Primary teacher in Scotland here. I'm into my 19th year this year. When I read education threads on MN, I am often thankful I teach in Scotland.

Primary here! SLT with TLR for KS1 (too many acronyms!) but currently on mat leave. Absolutely fed up of the giant cock up they've made of Y2 SATs over the past few years. Made my job virtually impossible and totally crushed my kids.

Secondary science NQT here. A career changer; had 10+ years in a commercial career previously. Much prefer my time at work now, but there is just too much of it (I was prepared for it to be like this, though). My plan is to go part time once the NQT year is done.
