I'm getting start of term nerves even though I'm not an NQT and not in a new school!

So, I have been having weird school dreams Shock

Themes include;
Not turning up on the first day and someone ringing me up!

Classes arriving and no lessons planned

Classroom a top

Forgotten to write important resources

Anyone else?

Yes.
Children turning up without names on pegs and without the right resources sorted.

Yes. Children refusing to behave. Hate back to work dreams of dread!

I've had several all summer too! They're not fun. The worst was being plonked in front of an A Level Chemistry class (not my subject)...

I had a sudden realisation that I forgot to order exercise books and textbooks. Have been in today and done the order but we might be making do a bit for the first week or so. My department might hate me a bit.

I'm looking forward to going back, but still having The Dreams!

Most of them involve messengers arriving in my classroom and asking why I'm not in assembly/on a trip/at sports day and then a mad panic to get there.

The worst one was that someone 'borrowed' three of my tables and I didn't know who! Shock

But I went in today to do my boards and it was all fine!

So nobody naked then? No? Just me? I have had the same dream for many years and I'm always naked in my classroom....

I've never had the naked dream, Jimmy. In my dreams I'm always starting to teach a lesson (generally an A level class) and I suddenly realise 'fuck...I didn't do the reading. I haven't planned anything to teach here and I don't know the subject'. And the panic is horrible...

I have the topless dream. I'm in a normal school situation and then suddenly realise I have no top or bra on. Being large of nork, I then try to cover with my hands which doesn't work 😣🤔 I have this dream about once a year, no idea what causes it!

Dreaming of going into labour in the classroom. I know in all likelihood its probably not going to happen but I'm still scared!

I get this. The dream, I mean. I don't actually go to school naked.

I woke up all flustered the other morning and DH said, "ah, the end of holiday naked dream?"

I play the piano in the hall during assembly time and always had the dream that I would be unable to find the music that was needed, and the whole school was waiting.

We had a new headteacher last Sept, and in the first assemly it actually happened! For some reason, I couldn't find the music page in the book. Seemed to take for ages! Not had that dream since.

Instead I've had the dream that I am too late getting back from morning break, and the ht is in my room teaching so I can't get away with it. I'm never late! !

Ugh, just wrote up from one where I was screaming at them all day and made one of them cry! Not me at all!

I've just had one where I didn't have all my DS's things ready for his first day back so I was very late dropping him off and therefore missed my own first day back (all of it, not sure why!). I couldnt find my phone to text the head and tell her why I wasnt there- it was very stressful. I've had to lie in for an extra 20 to get over it. Grin

I have dreams they add new classes of subjects I haven't taught before on at the last minute, so I don't know them, the SOW, and I'm completely unprepared when they arrive at my door.

Oh wait it's not a dream, it's where I work.

I've been dreaming that I can't pull my trousers up, and am going about my duties with one hand holding the waistband around my thighs. Very undignified. At some point I always realise "Ah ha - this is a classic dream about back-to-work anxiety!" and suddenly I can pull my trousers up.

Report
Thegiantofillinois · 03/09/2017 09:11

I dreamed about wolves last night. Just realised why! My anxiety dreams are usually about sitting exams.

Worryingly, I don't actually feel anxious. I feel.bored and I'm worried that I might do something daft like resign. Just the endless nature of it all and the dragging kids through exam prep. And the meetings. The constant ducking meeting.gs about how much progress kids are making and what we're doing to make sure they mery their ridiculous tsrgets. Usually I feel a little bit excited, but I'm can't see any joy ahead.

Yep. They normally start around the bank holiday- my sign the summer is coming to an end !
Always the same- the classic.
Turn up in jeans ready for an INSET day, no planning done, walk into a class full of children!
I've been doing this for over 20 years- you'd think I ,d be able to sleep soundly by now.
