Anyone getting 'the fear' about Thursday?

I don't normally get too worried, but there are just too many unknowns this year (English).

I'm working on the 'What will be will be' mantra.

Yes, that served me well up until now.
Now I'm at full on 'eeeeeeeeeeeeek' mode!

I'm calm but want to get it over with. (Also English). A levels were better than i had predicted so fingers crossed...

Yep. Maths. Usually have some idea what the kids will get so leading up to the day it's just worrying about whether the odd borderline kid made it.

But now I have no idea where the borderline is. If we, as a school, misjudged badly where the grade boundaries will fall - and it's entirely possible - then it could be a disaster.

Yes! I had one year 11 class and they were lovely but so lazy and not terribly bright (and spread massively thin by my school's insistence on doing a stupid number of GCSEs).

Yep. Adult Education English. Bricking it on behalf of my 8 fabulous ladies.

Always.

Bloody hate this week. This year is awful. Feels like we've been trying to knit jelly predicting grades.

Trying to knit jelly
Yes. This!

It's not even not knowing where the boundaries will fall, it's what the examiners are actually looking for. Did we teach the right stuff? The right exam techniques?

Results available online tomorrow if you're the designated person to access them. Which I am for my subject.

Gibbering quietly as much weaker cohort than previous year, when we managed 100% pass & 50% */A, so the only way really is down....

Trying very hard not to log on at midnight & keep refreshing HmmWine

I thought it was only heads and exams officers able to get them tomorrow?

HOD, or whoever else is the registered online portal person. I'm 2nd in department & KS4 is my responsibility, so that's me rather than HOD. Last year happened to fall in our staff induction week, so exams officer emailed them round first thing, the day before they were released to students. This year we aren't in until next week so unlikely she'll be doing this, but I should still be able to access them tomorrow.

When IB results came out recently HOD accessed & passed them on to the department the day before 'results day'.

In a previous teaching role we've always had them via HOD the day before. Thought that was standard!

No, I won't get my results till Thursday and I'm not sure when I'll get access to them on SISRA. A couple of years ago it was 6am but last year it wouldn't let me in till much later so I don't know.

Having set aside tomorrow to go in & crack on with analysis, I chuffing hope it lets me in Grin.

Edexcel online is saying it'll inbox us in the morning.

Nothing more frustrating than thinking 'ok, this is it, let's take a look' and a webpage not loading!

I teach BTEC. My results are released at midnight tonight so I'm just watching the minutes tick by. I'm much more nervous this year than usual.

Good luck totally!

And to anyone else getting an early look!

I believe SISRA embargo lifts at 6am.
I'll see them tomorrow... but that's my job!
Am hoping they'll be similar overall to last year (4+% I mean, similar to C+%).
We'll see.

I'm sure that's not right Crowy - it should be heads or exams officers only today: www.aqa.org.uk/exams-administration/results-days

Aargh heart beating fast don't know whether to be more nervous for my ds (who has to get specific grades for a selective 6th form) or my students - one class who haven't done that well and one who I think have but now not totally sure

Lying here stressing :(

As it turns out, they've been well & truly locked down since last year at our place.

Exams officer said there were a couple of dubious leaks last year with HODs posting cryptic 'ooh, really pleased for tomorrow!' messages on FB (Ffs!) so she'd been instructed by the Head to get on to exam boards & rescind everyone's ability to access results until tomorrow. She's got them this morning but is banned from passing them on to anyone but the data wallah on SLG!

So they could be available today for teaching staff, as I've known in previous school, but for good reasons based on people being twatty last year aren't. Fair enough.

Slightly resent day wasted on site today, although I did bodge together 2 SOWs & book a jolly good holiday for Xmas Wink.

Good luck for the morning all.

Breathe a big sigh of relief. More than half of the kids got 8/9. Time to retire. We can't be lucky for a second time.

We're GCSE. 100% pass for English, 45% A/A*.

I'll take that. Grin.

Hilarious email from my year 11 nemesis gloating that he'd 'proved me wrong' by passing. I replied saying how fabulous. 5 minutes later he appeared in my room, grabbed me in a bear hug & said tearfully 'I know I gave you a hard time but thank you soooo much...'

As I was patting him on the back & searching for tissues 3 of his sidekicks walked in. That's his 'cock of the school' rep gone before he starts back in Sixth Form then... Wink

That's great, Crowy Grin

Well I can't compete with the A*/A crowd, but my Foundation class all got 4s and 5s (some by the skin of their teeth, but all who were close to a grade boundary were on the right side of it) so I'll take that. :)

Wow. Excellent results. Well done. We also got many more 9s than expected. What's going on there?
