Support staff - twilight working?

Wondering how other support/non teaching staff are paid for working in the evening (parents evenings, open events etc). Do you get paid overtime, TOIL/get the INSETs off in return or do it for free?

In our school twilight sessions are 'paid back' to staff by finishing a day or 2 earlier than other local schools.

I quite like it

In theory we get TOIL, but then INSETS tend to be mandatory and we can't take time off in term time so in reality it's for free. I've two full days outstanding and I'm not sure when I'm going to take them!

Our support staff aren't required to attend twilights or open evenings.

Unpaid. No payback. Expected to attend.

Ours get TOIL which is such a PITA when trying to arrange staff, we are so tight in my dept. :( I used to be allowed to pay them but it got stopped.

TOIL here too.

Not queried either which makes me feel much positive about doing them when needed!

In theory we're supposed to get toil but never actually get chance to take it. Not much fun!

We get overtime and if anyone does an overnight residential during a holiday they get at least 1 day TOIL which we take on a day that suits us and always arranged before the trip. We thought we'd miss our old Head but we always felt a bit taken for granted whereas the new one has done wonders for morale, she gave us all a shopping day at Christmas Grin
