Hi everyone

I have an interview tomorrow for a teaching post from September 2017. I have been asked to be a bridesmaid on 19th Oct (a Thursday, half term is likely to start on the Friday based on this year's term dates). I would need 1 day off work.

If it's relevant the wedding is my aunt's. My entire family consists of 2 aunts, 4 cousins and 1 set of grandparents so it is a very big deal in my family and I really don't want to miss it if possible. Obviously I would be happy to use 2 weeks ppa time in lieu to make up for the day off.

Would you mention this during the actual interview? How do you bring it up? I'm not sure of the right way to approach it.

Thanks!

I would mention it when the job offer has been made, not before. It's not going to change whether you get the job or not iykwim. Will be interesting to see what response you get-all three schools I've worked at would allow this, but I have friends in other who would never get time off for a wedding like that.

If they offer you the job tell them then - explain that it is a one off and you are very committed
