I've been HoD at my present school for 1.5yrs. It's a good school, although there are some behaviour issues as bottom sets are still around 23 pupils. Great department, we work as a team.
Most of the kids are lovely, but some have real attitude problems.
It's 15 minutes from home, but in a different authority to the dc.
I am a single parent to dd9 and ds6. A job for HoD has come up at an independent school also 15mins away. It's for MFL and would mean I could teach primary again. A level too, although that stresses me out a bit. There is an expectation that I would lead trips abroad, which I'd love to do, but don't know how I could with my dc to consider.
Salary is negotiable depending on salary. This is my 12th year and 3rd as HoD.
I don't know whether to stay put or apply. There is the complication of me not knowing the whereabouts of my certificates as they were all at ex's house. I'd need to ask current school as they requested copies.
What would you do?

Apply! Do they do fee discounts for staff children?

Teaching primary and A level seems a bit too much like hard work to me.

Think so. But I don't think I could afford it with a discount. I'd have to negotiate with my salary.

Apply. Shy kids get no sweets.
