Found out yesterday that I've got an unconditional offer for PGDE, starting next August. I'm chuffed to bits, sure I should have done this years ago. So, other than sleeping & spending time with the family I'll not see until I'm out the other side of my NQT year, what should I be doing to prepare?

See if you can volunteer in a couple of local schools (if you don't already) and with a range of age groups. Get as wider experience of different types and ages of kids.
Read through the CfE website, get to grips with what is expected from the different stages.
Good luck!
(I'm Scottish but doing my PGCE in England at the moment (coming straight home to teach when I'm done))

Get a decent laptop, read TES, brush up on subject knowledge (if secondary).
Sleep some more.
You'll love it, I finished my NQT year last year, it's tough but so enjoyable.

Thanks everyone, I volunteer in a school where the HT is really supportive so she's giving me experience of all stages (& she did my reference).
I'm off to Glasgow Uni & I'll try not to be a prick. 😂
