You have to address the person spec.

The easiest way to do this is by using an Executive Summary - basically a table listing the person spec requirement, how you meet this, and the evidence you have.

Make sure your CV, if you are using one, has no gaps.

If you're writing a personal statement, think about what skills or hobbies you have that could be useful in a classroom. Eg, do you play a musical instrument? Are you particularly creative?

What are the school's aims and values? How can you help the school achieve those aims?

And yes, lots of evidence. Have you had to motivate reluctant learners? How did you do that? What was the result? What successes have you had either previously or with your recent volunteering?

It's really tough to do. I recently got a job in a school but that was only after a teacher friend looked at my application form and said I was being too modest. You really do have to blow your own trumpet!

Good luck Smile
