Alcohol - how much in the week?

After many articles in the press I'm wondering are teachers being driven to drink more in order to cope?
I know I'm drinking more in the evenings to cope with the work load and pressures. Am I alone?

Nightly glass of wine. Never more than a glass midweek though. I think it's widely socially acceptable among teachers to drink wine regularly!

I manage some weeks with none midweek but I have to commit to it (usually by announcing to DH that I'm not drinking this week). Most weeks, however, it's few glasses most evenings. I'm struggling with full time work and young children.

Since Sunday I've had 4 cans of cider. Tonight I have wine as I had some good news earlier. (approved mortgage application.)
I do drink too much and at one point went through a period of having a nightly bottle of wine. As well as feeling rotten, it was making me skint!

You need to find a better coping mechanism. Sorry.
Yes I have taught for years.

What other coping mechanisms to you suggest Wolfie? I've got into such a routine by relaxing with a glass of wine. It just takes no effort!

Went through a phase of having a glass every night, sometimes two. It ended up making me feel quite shit, a bit depressed, lethargic.

I have a bath and a cuppa instead, now Grin.

Wine strictly for weekends.

Nightly glass of wine plus chocolate and a cig(or ecig)! 2/3 glasses Friday and Saturday. This routine gives me an hour or two's relaxation and I always have something to look forward to at the end of each day! 22 year long habit. Am rarely sick!

A couple of pints in the pub on my way home (I don't drive) every other day generally. It's a much-needed release and an opportunity to talk to adults (!) about things other than teaching (!!). I'd go mad without it, to be honest.
