Please help! Looking for EAL ICT resources

I've spent ages this afternoon looking for free printable EAL/ICT resources online. I'm trying to find things like simple word searches, labelling parts of a comp (using own language & English), printable posters for the wall etc. Basically anything!

I have two EAL groups, mainly Slovakian speaking pupils, most low ability. One Y7 group, one Y9 group (anything KS2 or KS3 would probably be of help).

Can anyone link to any useful free resources?

Thanks!

Twinkl has some key word cards that are free to download and could be used as part of a display?

www.twinkl.co.uk/resource/t-m-242-ict-topic-word-cards

There are also a variety of other resources within the KS2 ICT area that might be of use - they seem to have some that are 'Become a user for Free and download' as well as the 'totally free' ones?

Put "pdf ict esol vocabulary" into google, one of the first hits is esl.flow.com which gives you lots of pdfs to download.
Often searching 'esol' rather than 'eal' brings up a lot more results.

Take the translated words and google a word search generator. You will have to manually input them but can then save the resources for future use.

Also search for 'teach-this' -excellent Australian website for Esol/eal learners...great resources which can be easiy adapted but are very accessible for the learners you describe.

Sparkle box has frees resources which can be used with EAL pupils, word mats for clothes etc, which the pupil can add their first language labels. Wokingham council EAL new arrivals will take you to some good resources.
There are also websites where you can generate your own word search, you can google it. Your own council should have its own EAL advisors to help you.

Don't use sparklebox, it's owned by a convicted paedophile.

"Don't use sparklebox, it's owned by a convicted paedophile."

Why not use it, if you are downloading stuff its not as if he can creep down the wires. Besides in 2010 Samuel Kinge the owner was jailed for 12 months and barred from using an unmonitored computer for 15 years.

Because he still runs the company and will profit from advertising.

So you believe the proper sentence for him should have been life on benefits, loss of employment for his entirely innocent workforce and the loss of a teaching resource.

Oh sure, that's exactly what I said. Hmm

I'm sure he can make his money elsewhere in a manner that doesn't involve children.

Why would teachers want to fund a convicted paedophile?

I am an eal teacher. There is a lot of good free stuff on the Internet. The BBC website has a dedicated eal site, also the brittish council for learning English has lots of good stuff and onestopenglish has some excellent resources as well as articles about how to teach different things in interesting fun ways. I think you will struggle to find resources with L1 and english but you can take take and and add L1 using google translate if you feel it will help. Hope these help op.

Sparklebox was blocked by quite a few grids for learning when it contained a dodgy toolbar. www.anseo.net/sparklebox-scandal/
www.xp-vista.com/sparklebox-toolbar-removal-guide

So when education authorities are now oking it for use it's because the toolbar has gone, not because it is now fine to generate money for a paedophile by printing off worksheets for children to use.

If you want to generate wordsearches try //www.senteacher.org
You can input your own lists and specify the difficulty.

I second senteacher.org. Have used it for many years for a range of free resources. The word searches are great - you can use one of the many available (a wide selection of subjects) or create your own. Good luck.
