Making Mother's Day cards. Child in my class came to me and said she might have to "save her card for next year as she won't be seeing her mum before Mother's Day."
I suggested posting it (I know child lives with Dad). "Oh no, Mum's not allowed any contact with me, and if I send her anything, she'll reply and she's not allowed to." Sad

Bless her. Well done you for being such a great teacher, it's things like that that make it all worthwhile isn't it?

That's very sweet of you all to say. I don't feel wonderful at all - been a bit tense and shrill recently, as the job and "life" has been getting to me a bit, but have to admit this made my day yesterday. And then this morning, she gave me a beautiful paper flower she'd made at Breakfast Club, in the favourite colours I often wear. Smile

Lovely.
Had one like this at Xmas (I am a supply teacher)
Have to be careful sensitive as don't know personal circs.
Kids making Xmas card for parents/ relatives.
One of them (y7 one made one, loitered behind when the others went.
'It's for you, Miss.'
I thanked him, smiled. and when he left, cried buckets.
Have, and will, kept it.
Lovely boy - complicated family Sad

Family set-up is a bit of a car crash, for sure. Not appropriate to detail them here as might out us all.

She's a sweetie though - sunny nature and seemingly unaffected at the moment, but she's only 8, so time will tell.
