I have so much stress going on at the minute. From before christmas!
Before christmas, i would attend work daily. Even when struggling. At times i got sent home as i clearly shouldnt have been there.
My fear of upsetting staff is irrationally over the top.
Sine before christmas i have had to take days off due to kids, hospital appointments, meetings, i recently took one off due to stress. I feel like i have had a lot of time off lately.

Now my mental health has taken a nose dive due to trying to keep going through all of the stresses, i really could do with time off.
Only my fear of upsetting colleagues has been creeping in and i dont know if id be best off quitting, rather than going on the sick.

Ring in sick today with stress. Go to your GP and explain the situation and get sick note and support.

Mental health is a health issue. If you had a broken leg or cancer you would get give yourself time to recover and get appropriate medical advice.

Long term sick, even weekly cover is easier than the odd day and you have said yourself that your feelings about this situation are irational.

A good teacher looks after themself.

I agree with heir. Ring in and say your seeing the doctor today. Make an appointment and ask for at least a week off. Cover is easy and they can get someone in when it's a week and you then switch off properly.

Good. I think you need just some time when you don't think about work.

I know a number of teacher who have had time off for stress and then successfully returned to teaching but right now you don't need to think about the future.

Ive been put on the sick for a month and then to go back for review with the doc to see if i should go back then or not.
She also gave me some sertraline and sleeping tablets. Also going to refer myself for a counsellor.

I just need to try and switch of from worrying about work now.

That sounds like the best plan. You can't perform in front of a class when not feeling 110%.

I think you've done the right thing, I am signed off now but I struggled on for six months before admitting that I couldn't do it.
