Part time jobs

I had an interview today for a part time EYFS teacher job and I was apparently very close but I didn't get it . There are absolutely no more around. That was the only one I've seen in my area. I can't really do supply due to the uncertainty. I have 3dcs, one of which is disabled so I need set childcare.

Do I need to apply for full time ones for now and hope to reduce days in the future? Is there another way?

We relocated at Xmas time so I currently do not work.

Thanks

Could you do supply part time? Use childcare on those days? I know it is uncertain but I have a friend who is a supply teacher. She only does EY and KS1 but is rarely without work. Once you have been doing it for a while, you may get something regular. Good luck, whatever you decide.

I think that's what I will hVe to do, but it's the cost of childcare if I don't get work.

Part time jobs tend to come up in my area at odd times. You might be surprised at what pops up after half term or in around sept/October.

Do you know any other teachers you could team up with as a ready made job share? Then apply for full time posts together?

Tutoring might be worth a try too?

Thanks for the replies. I got proper feedback from the job I didn't get. It seems it was so close, and they said I shone but they had to make a decision. The head is going to put me on their roll as a supply so at least that's something.

I don't know anyone to team up with unfortunately. We are new to the area. I had a lovely jobshare before Sad

Have you thought about working in a pre-school/nursery?

I went back to work doing supply (primary -ks2) for just two days a week. I had the same worries about childcare as you, but only had one day without work and then got a regular position in one school. It's a good way to get a feel for different schools too, which could be really useful if you're new to an area. Good luck!

Why not go and look round schools offering full time jobs and explain that you are looking for part time work? Round here, jobs are advertised full time but if a couple of competent people offered to work part time, the school would be so delighted to get reasonable applicants they'd make it work.

Supply it is by the sounds of it!

I've rang most of the schools advertising full time jobs. They aren't interested in part time unfortunately. I think this area is fairly flooded with teachers (wirral).
