I am going back to work later in the year on a part time basis. I have been in the same school for more than 10 years, teaching in both key stages (primary) and with numerous coordinator roles over the years.
I applied for part time hours via letter and this was verbally granted via the school business manager who confirmed my requested hours had been granted though she could not say for certain if this was my choice of days. Since then I have had no further correspondence and I was contacted via telephone (I am on leave at the moment) 6 weeks ago.
Should I have received a new or amended contract or is it more likely that this will be sent to me nearer the time to my return?
Part timers - what exactly does your contract stipulate - hours (i.e. 0.6) and/or particular days?
Do you have to attend all training days?
Though I have 15 years experience, taught in six different year groups and responsible for 4 subjects over the course of those 15 years, what is the likelihood of being made redundant? There are 18 teachers and of those 13 of them have less years experience, less years at the school, less year group experience and less coordinator role experience. Am I more likely to be protected?
I have no idea how redundancies work but with the budget being 'ring-fenced' by the Conservatives (i.e won't be cut but unlikely to increase either!) I amsomewhat concerned as the head teacher and I no longer get along (no contact with her in five months!)
