Foot in mouth

I was teaching a science lesson about constellations and the conversation got to star signs. I opened my mouth in front of my year 9s and said, "How many of you are virgins." I meant to say Virgo and the room erupted in laughter.

Please tell me I am not the only one to say something stupid like this

I once told my whole class to sit down and take their clothes off! Obviously I meant coats!

A girl at school when we were maybe 13 or so replied that the soil contained micro orgasms rather than micro organisms and even worse was when I was doing my law degree and talked about penile colonies rather than penal colonies - I think perhaps mine is worse!

I have so many examples I could share! The worst is probably when I was once reading to my lovely S4 class and I pronounced 'counting' without the 'o'. Not a single one noticed! I was pregnant at the time so I blame premature baby brain Grin.

It wasn't quite a foot in mouth moment but the yr3 class I am in (121 LSA) were doing a lesson on using a dictionary & one kid on my table found the word vagina & tried to sound it out very loudly & ask me what it meant!!

I was mortified when I used the word orgasm instead on organisms. Just relieved it was completely lost on a class of 8 yr olds!

I have a friend who told the class to take their tops of, when he meant coats! Shock

My group of year 3 boys were playing split word snap yesterday. The letter QU and IM were drawn. They very loudly announced there was no such word.

Not me but in a year 7 history lesson last year a girl put her hand up and said "Miss, who was this King Cunt?" After I'd picked my jaw up off the floor I realised that her textbook mentioned King Cnut.

I've had the "king Cunt" thing in lots of homeworks Smile. DH was asked at an athletics session if he could "whip out the High Jump equipment" and he replied "I can whip out whatever you like" Blush - fortunately it was to a 6th form boy not a 5th or 6th form girl!! but I think it made the Leavers Year Book that year Grin
