Home Laminator suggestions.

Sorry - really boring thread but I'm fed up of having to track down the schools one and only laminator in my large school. I'm thinking of buying one for home. Have been on Staples and Amazon sites but cheap and expensive ones seem to have mixed reviews. Trusted MNetters what make do you recommend?

I've had a few over the years and they all break in the end but the Tesco value one I bought for a fiver two years ago is still working fine. I am planning to upgrade to an A3 laminator though - I do a LOT of laminating on Sunday nights!

I bought one in Wilko's for a tenner and it does the job.

I have a tesco value laminator and it's been fine so far. There's no way to adjust it though so if the laminator pockets are too thin they wrinkle.

I bought two different types of laminator pockets from tesco - both cost exactly the same amount for the same number of pockets but the "budget range" ones were thinner and therefore don't work well with the budget range laminator!

I got mine from the range and it's good. I think any supermarket cheapy will be fine to be honest.

I bought a Cathedral A4 laminator from Amazon for about £15, not used it much but seems to do the job fine and had good reviews. Don't try laminating scan photos btw, the ink melts! Poor DH had to calm down a hormonal me wailing 'I've melted the baby' at 11pm by reminding me we'd scanned them all onto the computer and then print off new copies before I'd go to bed.

Thanks all. I knew that teachers would have laminator expertise. It seems cheep is fine but better quality laminator sheets is the answer.

Poor you re scan. I would have been distraught too !

If you are laminating stuff for school - take laminates from school and don't buy your own!

Just make sure you have one where you can épée move the pouch if it does jam, I.e. A button to move the rollers apart rather than needing to take a screwdriver to it!
