Suggest me a leaving gift for a PGCE student!

Our PGCE student this year has been an absolute legend.
Prep work has been second to none, the kids adore him, he treats everyone with fairness and is very kind. He has made us some amazing resources and we don't want him to leave!

Sadly, he must, and the 3 of us in the dept want to buy something for him. Does anyone have any suggestions? I thought of a nice manly leather style pencil case and leather bound notebook, but am not certain.

Help!

Personalised stamps - try the Teachers' Stamp Shop in York. They have a website and can make a personalised self inking stamp for about a tenner. They have a huge range.

Also, moleskine do embossed and personalised leather notebooks.

Giant egg timers. eBay. I have a 5 min and a 2 min. Or a hooter. Or some crowns to give good learners. Or a desk bell. Gizmos

Or look at pirongs for personalised planners. They're so cool

Lazy Teacher book? It's brilliant. I got one (along with a bottle of bubbly) for my ace PGCE student last year.

In the past and for my final placement student this week l have made them a survival pack for their new job with teacher related stationary, highlighters, pens, post it notes etc and then a bottle of wine and some chocolates. It has always gone down well! Smile

I was going to suggest The Lazy Teacher's Handbook. It's a must-have.

I agree - personalised stamper. I make my students a sort of teacher survival kit with register pens, whistle, soothers, hot chocolate sachets, emergency chocolate, a nice notebook (I like the one that says important teacher notes custard creams vs choc digestives. You can also personalise it with stickers for their name and write a nice message inside the first page - good luck for your NQT year, you'll be great etc.) I'm trying to think what else I usually put in...

Also, a nice container for hot drinks with a child proof lid makes a good teacher gift - I think John Lewis do some nice ones. You all sound so lovely and thoughtful.
