Playtime and lunchtime looooooo policies??? Help!!!

School has introduced a new 'policy' in that basically the children have the chance to use loo just after class has ended ( or lunch ) but as soon as they are out in the playground then they aren't allowed access back in..... HELP!!!! I know that we are going to have problems with this one...any advice on enforcing this, explaining to ' angry parents' why their child was distressed / poorly / soiled themselves because they couldn't use the loo other than in the few minutes allowed??? I know that often as an adult, sometimes the urge to go just hits me!!!!!!!! So how can we expect children to perform at set times??? Thanks...please be kind with responses : ) x

I think I would be explaining it using the rationale given by the decision maker, whatever that might be.

What is the reason for this? Good heavens, if the kids aren't even allowed to go freely during lunchtime,presumably there is no question of them going to the toilet during lesson time? Completely unfair to expect them to have such amazing bladder control! How would the teachers feel if they were expected to follow the same policy? I would refer all complaints to the HT, assuming that is where the policy came from.

Yep direct all complaints directly to the idiot who came up with the idea.
Be drinking coffee or eating your lunch and avoid noticing rule violators.

She can't drink coffee because she might then need to go to the toilet at a forbidden time - like at the end of lunch! Oh wait, the policy only applies to the children, with their wonderful bladder control and habit of planning ahead their toilet breaks?!

The lines for the loo will be quite long....and the ones at the end of the queue might missed the allotted slot!

Not saying I agree with the policy, but may understand the flawed logic in why it has been introduced. Has there been problems in the toilet areas over the lunch break? It is hard to supervise outside play and what is going on in the indoor toilets and this could result in children playing / messing around in toilets, accidents & injuries and bullying while out of sight of supervising adults. I ask as we had this problem and had to lock all year group toilets, except one, which was closely supervised by an additional member of staff to prevent such issues. This reduced ratios outside, or indoors during wet playtimes, so we had to employ extra staff. However, we had problems appointing dinner ladies, so the SLT had to do it. That's a thrilling way to spend lunchtimes; standing outside the doors of the boys and girls toilets (thankfully next door to each other) monitoring who went in and out, how long they'd been and sticking your head in if there was too much noise or you suspected trouble!
