Anyone moved from secondary to primary?

How did you find it? I'm currently a head of English in secondary but would like to work in primary. A job has come up near me for literacy co-ordinator. Has anyone done a similar move, and if so, how did you find it?

I did the move this year from secondary ( ks3/4/5) to middle (ks2/3). And loving it.
Having gone from a large secondary it is bit loanly, being the only one in my department (humanities). Behaviour is a lot better, planning is quite different as you have to factor how long it takes to do everything!

I'm not a teacher so this is anecdotal, but my DD1's new teacher has just moved from secondary to teach Y5/Y6 primary. By all accounts it's going really well, and they're enjoying being treated in a slightly more "grown-up" fashion.

I'm in the midst! Left secondary after kids, had two kids close together (14 mo apart!) and have had 6 years off. Although I always continued exam marking, I am now working as a HLTA in a primary, and loving it. I am planning on swapping to KS2 over the next few years, once i've got the levels nailed, and had more classroom experience. I cover lessons and so this is a helpful post. I think it can be done, but you need to show willing and perhaps volunteer or work at a lower level for a while first. There seems to be less of a shortage of primary teachers in my area than in many localities.

I love it thus far. What nails it for me is the behaviour difference, and my secondary subject was always very heavy marking load ( talking 2 sets of As/A2, 30 plus in the class, plus GCSE essays every week), and it was killing me! Primary is NOT an easy option, but the marking load, whilst just as heavy, is less time intensive in terms of 8 page essays. That said, the classroom prep is MORE intensive! And don't underestimate the key change of "I have this class for 60 minutes twice a week" and "I have this class all day all year", in terms of dealing with problems. It can help and it also can't....

I have a friend who did this, mainly because she found behaviour management difficult. She found the primary workload unbearable and went part time qute quickly.

Primary seems much more work than secondary to me, would never tempt me.

i went from adult to secondary to middle! and trying to find lower/primary at moment!
