New school year (sorry, a bit late for colleagues in Scotland), so I wondered who was out there? (Shameless attempt at being nosy)

I teach upper KS2 in Suffolk. I am also the maths co-ordinator and SENCO.

Evening! Teach upper ks2 in Norfolk. New class are ... Ahem ... Quirky and lively! On honeymoon period at the moment but waiting for fireworks soon!

Biology teacher in the SW. Moved to an 11-18 Grammar school after completing NQT at an 11-16 comp so all a bit scary!

Morning Miss, sorry I'm late! I'm doing School Direct/PGCE starting properly on Monday. I'm Key Stage 2, and being hosted by daughter's school where I volunteered for Term 5 and 6 last year.

Everybody keeps saying how hard it is, so I have this sense of impending doom.

MFL teacher in NW. After a few years of full-time am now part-time and struggling to shake off the feeling I'm skiving.

TwllBach Fri 06-Sep-13 16:44:15

I'm another one who will say it is really hard but also the best job in the world. Scouts honour grin

English AST here, or whatever we're supposed to be called now! I have some fantastic classes this year, so am v happy. smile

MatchsticksForMyEyes Fri 06-Sep-13 18:01:30

Second that Twyll-I had an email from a student who did A2 with my last year thanking me for getting him through 6th form and telling me how much he appreciated it. Makes it all worthwhile. [smile}

end of week 1 and all quiet in class- had a nightmare class last year so this quiet, well behaved polite manner is strange! I know it is a honeymoon period, but I don't think I even had one of those last year so things may be better.

I do like the start of term- filled with good intentions!

mnistooaddictive Fri 06-Sep-13 18:04:39

Maths teacher returning after 7 years as a SAHM. Scary! Smart boards don't work in the same way and I am failing at using it properly. Oh well!

clam Fri 06-Sep-13 18:07:31

I too have the first dream class in many years, but I have one space, which leaves me vulnerable to whatever psycho new child next happens along.

Dangerous position to be in, clam. Cos the newbies are rarely stars! (Or I could just be unlucky).

2 years ago my class was all change - through the year 3 kids left and 5 new ones arrived.

This year, I'm full. So unless anyone leaves, I won't get any surprises. smile

Maisycat Fri 06-Sep-13 21:47:04

History and IBD co in south east... Shattered already!

missmapp Fri 06-Sep-13 21:48:40

clam- I too have a space - dreading the arrival of school sec with new arrival ( who , in my experience is always closely followed by the senco!)

Long may the dream continue

Phewwwweeee. That felt like a long week.

Hello blueemerald! My background is EBD. I love it too. Kids who throw chairs at your head if you are boring who tell it like it is teach you how to be a great teacher bloody quickly!!

knitknack Sat 07-Sep-13 07:42:18

Suffolk here too! KS3&4 plus lit co-ordinator. Shattered! :D

TheHappyCamper Sat 07-Sep-13 08:02:21

Here Miss grin

Secondary Science teacher in North Yorkshire. We've had the kids in since Tuesday so have met all my classes now. There was only one class that I thought <eeek!> but I'm sure I'll soon lick them into shape wink.

My own DD has just started school (reception) and has cried lots so it has been a long week. I was so tired last night!
